Essential oils are rich with skin healing properties, but with so many to choose from where does one begin? For acne scars, choose oils that have skin cell regenerative properties. For acne-prone skin types, be sure to include oils with antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties. Customize your recipe further by finding carrier oils that suit your skin type. Find the best carrier oils for your skin here. The right blend of essential oils and carrier oils can stimulate skin cell regeneration, deliver essential fatty acids, fade discolorations and reduce the overall appearance of acne scars. Here is one of my recipes I've found to be helpful for my post acne scarring.
DIY Natural Acne Scar Serum
- 1 Ounce Amber Glass Dropper Bottle
- Grapeseed Oil
- Rosehip Seed Oil
- 4 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
- 4 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 4 drops Rosewood Essential Oil
- Create a 50/50 blend of Grapeseed oil and Rosehip Seed oil.
- Add essential oils.
- Allow to set for 24 hours.
- Keep refrigerate to preserve freshness.
- Stays fresh up to 1 year, if stored properly.
How To UseAfter cleansing and toning, I add a small amount of the serum to a cotton pad and apply all over my face. Not only is this serum effective at reducing acne scars but it's also beneficial for overall healthier more even skin tone. Some weeks I'll use it every morning and night, other times I'll alternate with another oil blend.
