Sugar Scrub Storage and Shelf Life

Most homemade sugar scrubs can easily last 2 to 3 months. As long as the scrub doesn't contain water or fresh ingredients. You can help prolong the shelf life of your scrub by avoiding contamination. Always use a clean scoop and make sure no water gets into your scrub jar. Just remember, hands or water in your scrub equals bacteria. If you think it may have been contaminated, it's best to throw it out that day.

Storage is also important in prolonging the life of your homemade scrub, since it contains natural sometimes fragile oils, you'll want to store the scrub as you would those oils. Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.

With that said, one of the reasons I love creating DIY beauty recipes is to have fresh beauty products. Rather than seeing how long you can keep them sitting on your shelf. Using your homemade beauty products while they're in their freshest state is one of the many benefits of DIY beauty.
