DIY Drawer Organizers

Monday, January 13, 2014

You'll have the hottest drawers on the block! Totally custom, in the colors you love and made to fit your drawers perfectly. Even those awkward sized drawers, so you can utilize every bit of space and keep your things organized.

What You'll Need…
  • Foam Board 20"x 30" (one board per drawer)
  • Fabric of your choice
  • Vinyl Fabric (or any fabric with secure edges that won't fray)
  • Spray Adhesive
  • Hot Glue Gun (Optional but necessary for making small dividers)
  • Measuring Tape
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Utility Knife

Where and How Much?
I purchased the following items at Walmart... The foam board was $1.47 per board, the barbie pink fabric I used was $2.78 a yard, the black/white damask print vinyl fabric was $3.38 a yard and the spray adhesive was $10.80. I found everything in the fabric aisle, except the spray adhesive which was near the paint section.

Just finished watching your linen closet redo and I want to buy the items today to get started :) You mentioned sharing Home Decor videos etc. I am an interior decorator still trying to get comfortable with videos, but my channel has some of my work. my website/blog has some photos and redos as well. Would love to hear from you and hope you enjoy! This year I will be shooting videos with Professional Organizer Neitra Blair as well so stay tuned :)Love your videos, thank you for putting them on the web!

  3. I just love your DIY videos, well, along with all the others :) On another subject, have you ever tried the 100% Pure Makeup line? Or, any other "natural" makeup line?

    1. Bare minerals,Josie Maren,Stila are my favs. Josie matchmaker foundation, her organic mascara is the best, argan color sticks are great. Stila has great bb cream, eyeliner, eyeshadow and kitten hi lighter. But I love Lancome art liner and mascaras tho they aren't natural. I am allergic to parabens and gluten

  4. I am in LOVE with this! I just finished watching the video and now I'm trying to think up all sorts of ideas on how to make this look for myself. And I can't believe how cheap it is!

I'm coming to Maui in a couple of months and was wondering if you had any tips on food - specifically the best markets for fresh fruit & veggies, the most well-priced supermarkets, or your favorite places to eat out. Thanks!

I'll look forward to reading and watching more :)

  12. We are doing this with a chocolate brown knit as the base and the dividers are going to be trimmed with satin blanket binding in copper. My drawers aren't as shallow as yours, so I am going to be picking up some acrylic cosmetic organizers to place inside the dresser drawers. This was SUCH a fantastic tutorial! Thanks!

  13. The second I saw this I wanted to do it so the next day I did and its so easy!!! That's the good thing! Thanks so much for posting this idea up I love it!!!!

  14. Great tutorial! Btw, how much of each fabric was purchased for this project? Just so I can get an idea of how much fabric I would need to purchase if I do this project ^_^

  15. Just wanted to say thank you for this! My dad built me a lingerie chest recently and I did this to line all the drawers (I used bright blue fabric and similar trim and it looks wonderful). I never would have come up with this method by myself, and I really enjoyed having a project! Thank you!!

  16. Where did you get your desk/vanity?

  17. Can't wait to try this project myself in my makeup drawers this weekend! :) Thanks for the inspiration!

  18. Since you have changed your decor, will you be making a DIY changing the fabric on these Drawer Organizers? I would love to see how you do it and see the fabric you choose! I check once or twice everyday hoping for another of your DIY posts / videos lol

  19. This looks like a much better idea that spending hundreds on acrylic makeup organizers. I'm giving it a go but may use a contact paper or duct tape so I can wipe it clean!

  20. I just went to the dollar tree and bought foam board and contact paper. Mine won't be as pretty as yours but hope it finally fixes the problem of too deep drawers and searching for make up! I'm on an organizing whirlwind! I just finished installing white peg board on a closet wall for all my jewelry, belts and scarves! It's awesome I just have to attach my faceted glass knobs as some of the holders.

  21. Love love love this and definitely going to try but am really struggling to find these fabrics.. I'm in the UK. Would pick other colours but have fallen in love with your combo! Do you think it would be possible to do this with patterned/coloured paper? Thanks! .x.
