White Bedroom

Welcome to our little cottage bedroom, peaceful and relaxing... Maybe it's the soothing white, cozy textures and cool gray tones. Or maybe it's the fact that we managed to squeeze this ginormous Cal-King Tempurpedic into this small bedroom and basically the entire room is one big snuggly bed.

White Bedroom Ideas

By the way, have you ever tried to carry one of these Tempurpedics? We purchased it several years ago and since then have moved house three times. This thing is so dense and heavy... It rivals the mass of Jupiter.

Don't even ask how we managed to get it into the back of our truck with the camper shell on... Have you ever tried to fold one of these beds in half? It's like mud-wrestling a water buffalo in a watering hole on the plains of the Serengeti. Not that I have wrestled with a water buffalo... but after moving this beast three times, I imagine it to be a similar experience.

DIY Pillow Sham

...But the headboard looks nice, doesn't it?

How To Make A Tufted Headboard

Our white tufted headboard was a DIY project Michael and I did last year.

In our almost 11 years of marriage, this is actually our very first headboard. Michael was against getting a headboard for the longest time, but when I proposed the idea of constructing our own, he (always being up for tackling a challenge) thought it sounded like an interesting project to try.

Here's a video tutorial for our DIY tufted headboard.

We had a blast making it and love how it turned out, very plush and luxurious feeling.

Glam Room Ideas

The gray and white moroccan print Euro pillows are also a DIY.

I shopped around for affordable pillow shams... and wow I must be really out of the loop on bedding prices, who knew pillow cases had gotten so expensive. So Michael and I went to the fabric store together, we picked out this soft fleecy moroccan print fabric and I sewed three Euro pillow shams with envelope closures for a grand total of $30. Kind of in love with them!

I ordered the Euro pillows (oversized 28") on Amazon.

Mongolian Faux Fur Throw

The DIY white Mongolian faux fur throw I made this winter. I didn't film a tutorial on how to make this throw but it's really easy.

  1. Choose two pieces of fabric for the front and back. Both sides can be the same fabric or different, it's totally up to you. (I used white Mongolian faux fur on top and white fleece on the bottom.)
  2. Cut the fabric to the size you want (I made our throw 1 yard.)
  3. Lay pretty sides facing each other, pin fabric together and sew around the perimeter, leave an opening that will be big enough to reach inside and flip the throw right side out.
  4. Once you've flipped the throw right side out, slip-stitch the opening closed by hand.

Throws are great projects for beginners... And trust me, I'm a beginner. I barely know how to thread our sewing machine.

I ordered the Mongolian faux fur fabric on Amazon from Fabric Empire, they have great customer service. The white fleece I already had from our local Fabric Mart store.

Room Organization Ideas

This is Michael's Cube Dresser, we purchased it from Costco a few years ago. It was originally black and we painted it with our favorite white paint Behr Sea Salt. We added the mirror top and rope lights, as shown in my DIY Winter Room Decor Ideas video.

The door on the right is Michael's closet. Above is a shelf with a rod to hang clothes but we only use the shelf for extra storage.

Room Organizing Ideas

The slouchy cable knit bins are from Ross. We store extra towels, bed linens and a blanket in them.

Zen Bedroom Decor Ideas

This Crane mini electric fireplace heater is from Amazon. Michael is pretty much obsessed with this thing. And I have to admit, I'm kind of living for it myself this winter. We both agreed, it's the best heater either of us have ever owned.

How To Organize Your Bedroom

The window treatments are the same as our living room. On each window, I used four panels of white sheers (from Walmart), and four panels of extra long 96" linen curtains (from Ross).

To make the windows appear larger, we hang the linen curtain rods about 6" higher than the white sheer curtain rods which are about 3" above the window frame.

White Shag Rug

The fluffy shag cream rug is from Ross. The basket peeking into the photo at the upper left, is also from Ross. It holds an extra blanket for chilly nights and we also stack our non-sleeping pillows on top of it at night.
