Original Sprout Tahitian Hair Oil

The heat and humidity of summer is on it's way and one of my summer essentials is a good smoothing hair serum. I've been using this Tahitian Hair Oil. I first discovered Original Sprout Tahitian Hair Oil in the wellness aisle at Whole Foods and it's been a favorite ever since, it's also available on Amazon here (amazon affiliate link). It leaves my hair feeling super soft, tames frizzy frazzled ends and smells amazing. It's also 100% vegan and cruelty-free!

Original Sprout Tahitian Hair Product Reviews

For reference, my hair type is naturally fluffy, frizzy, poufy, each strand is fine but there's a lot of them, so it's quite thick. When I was growing up, it was very difficult to manage. I always felt out of place because most girls in my school had super straight, fine, silky hair... A hair type that I longed to have as well... Only because at the time I couldn't see the beauty in my thick, wavy hair.

But now I love it and thankfully, technology improved and now we have brilliant flatirons, curling wands and smoothing hair serums! Amazing tools which literally gave my hair a new life.

So if you have hard to manage hair too, don't fret, with the right tools, product and technique, you'll be able to love and embrace your unique hair type, and feel confident rocking your own signature hairstyle!

How To Use Tahitian Hair Oil

Original Sprout was founded by Inga Tritt, a master stylist, dedicated to creating healthy, cruelty-free, vegan hair and skin products. Inga formulates her products to work effectively using safe and soothing ingredients.

Let's talk about the scent first... This Tahitian Hair Oil smells like a sweet, tropical, coconut-vanilla tanning oil, it makes your hair smell oh so delicious!

This hair serum is formulated with both lightweight silicones and all natural oils and extracts. The silicones are for smoothing and protecting the hair shaft, preserving hair color, leaving hair ultra soft and silky, without weighing it down or causing any waxy or greasy residue buildup. The all natural oils and extracts are for nourishing, hydrating and strengthening all hair types, including delicate, dry, damaged, chemically-treated and breakage prone hair.

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Pineapple Fruit Extract, Coconut Oil, Cyclohexasiloxane, Tonka Bean Extract, Tahitian Gardenia Flower Extract, Linseed Extract, Apricot Fruit Extract, Apple Fruit Extract, Raspberry Fruit Extract, Ethylhexlglycerine,Vanilla Extract, Coconut Extract.

No wonder it smells so amazing! Total beach babe scent.

To apply Original Sprout Tahitian Hair Oil, I use one pump, rub between my hands and apply it on clean damp hair, focusing most of the product on the ends of my hair. I let my hair air dry for awhile, finish with the blowdryer and style as usual. Also anytime I have some random frizzies that needs taming, I'll just take a half pump and run it through my hair.

This product was also formulated to use on skin. I read several rave reviews from people saying they loved how soft and smooth it made their skin feel. Personally, I don't use silicone on my skin. I'm just weird about my skin like that I suppose. But on my hair, I use heat and the silicone can be beneficial in that manner, so it's cool.

How to grow long hair

This Tahitian Hair Oil doesn't specifically list "heat protectant" on the description. But after thoroughly examining the ingredients, I would swear that this would be an ideal multi-tasking serum and heat protectant. So I've contacted Original Sprout to inquire about it's heat tolerance, I'm hoping they'll reply soon and when they do I'll be sure to update this post. Until then, I'll continue using it just as I have been because I'm loving the results.

If you have a favorite hair serum or heat protectant, share in the comments!

    1. Thanks girl! Yep, still doing my own cut, color and growing out my highlights until they're at a point where I like, and then I'll maintain them with low maintenance balayage. I'll have to check out that North American Hemp co. Thanks for the tip! xo

  3. oh, I do have a hair oil that I love, it's a wonderful blend of oils and it doesn't have any silicones, so I add it to whatever styling cream I'm using. It's North America Hemp co .Never too late to repair deep hair treatment oil. I found it at a Marshall's store for $6.99 and at 4.8 oz it lasts forever since I only use one pump. ;)
