100% Pure Healthy Blush

After going more natural, cruelty-free and then finally vegan, I became acutely aware of makeup ingredients. I was surprised to find that so much of my makeup contained animal by-products. Looking through my blushes, I discovered the majority of them contained carmine, a red pigment obtained from crushed, boiled scale insects... Seriously who comes up with these things? Ok, so what if we don't want to wear boiled insect extract on our face? Thankfully there are other options, such as fruit pigmented makeup.

Hmm... Should I reach for the boiled bug blush or the cherry-papaya blush?

While on the hunt for vegan blush I decided to give 100% Pure fruit pigmented powder blushes a try. They are pricey at $35 USD, but the high quality ingredients are more like skincare in the form of makeup, something that 100% Pure is known for. So I had a good feeling they would be worth the splurge.

100% Pure offers 13 powder blush colors to choose from and throughout the summer I collected three of them, during their Friends & Family Sale and with promo code offers, which helped save some money. 4. I have one of them! A bright pink that smells of peppermint and gives the skin a crazy healthy look and it's so pigmented, I need so little I don't think I'm ever going to use it up! I love the packaging but it's a bummer there's so much fallout.

  5. Actually, pigments have been derived from natural sources, including the cochineal, for a verrrrry long time, so it's not like anybody dreamed it up recently. You should check out the history of pigments. It's quite fascinating.

  6. I like 100% Pure products, they were the first brand I tried when I started transitioning my makeup and lifestyle to a non-toxic all natural one. Makeup was the hardest to switch for me because I was such a collector and enthusiast. But I have found so, so many awesome, clean, fun brands that work. It's nice to see you have transitioned as well, I love your travel videos too. :)
